The NDIC-Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation was established on June 15, 1988 with the aim of strengthening the safety net of the newly liberalized banking sector as recommended by the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Ola Vincent.
The NDIC provides a safety net for depositors in the newly liberalized banking sector. Its objective is to protect customer funds while ensuring their security in the Nigerian banking system.
The NDIC -Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation is an independent agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The objective of the deposit insurance system is to protect depositors and guarantee the settlement of insured funds when a deposit-taking financial institution can no longer repay its deposits, thereby helping to maintain the stability of the financial system.

Registering with the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation is very necessary, especially in a world where financial institutions are not really trustworthy, with some being unable to achieve their core objectives due to intentional/intentional operational or business issues. Therefore, the government considers it necessary to establish a deposit insurance mechanism, under which the NDIC is empowered to ensure the financial stability of average customers and contribute to the financial and social order.
