The Federal Nigerian government has greatly condemned the new Israeli military strike against Iran, warning that increasing conflicts between the two countries is a major threat to regional and international peace.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Kimiebi Ebienfa, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria expressed a deep concern over intensifying hostility, calling for direct termination of violence and urged both parties to fully restrain.
“The Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria condemned the Israeli preemptive strike against Iran which had led to an increase in hostility between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the state of Israel, marked by the exchange of missiles and sustainable air in both regions,” the statement said.
The government warns that the retaliation cycle does not only endanger civilian life but also risk to plunge the Middle Eastern more broadly into instability, with broad consequences for global peace and economic stability.
Nigeria’s response emerged in the middle of one of the most unstable escalations between the two countries in recent years. The report shows that the high rank Iranian military figure, including the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General Mohammad Bagheri, and the Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, was killed in the attack.
In response, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, condemned the attack as “Declaration of War,” Warnings of Revenge “Bitter and Painful”.

In the face of increasing tension, Nigeria reiterated its commitment to peace coexistence, non-aggression, and multilateral diplomacy.
“As a country that is very committed to the principles of peace coexistence … Nigeria calls for all those involved to prioritize dialogue about confrontation,” the statement said. “Military action is not a substitute for negotiations.”
Nigeria also asked the UN Security Council and a wider international community to intensify diplomatic efforts to reduce conflict and provide a decent platform for dialogue.
“The road to eternal peace lies in diplomacy, mutual respect, and compliance with international law. Nigeria is ready to support all original efforts aimed at reducing tension and promoting peace in the region,” the statement concluded.
