French Ligue 1 side Lens have confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder Hamzat Ojediran from Hungarian club Debrecen, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
TO member of Nigeria’s U-17 squad for the 2019 U-17 World Cup in Brazil and Ladan Bosso’s U-20 squad last year, although he was not part of the squad that took part in the World Cup.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of Hamzat Ojediran for the next four seasons. The revelation of the Hungarian championship in 2023/24, Hamzat is a real force of nature. He is an explosive and athletic midfielder, an aggressive ball-winner in the best sense of the word,” said Pierre Dréossi, the club’s president, on the club’s official website.
“His determination and commitment on the pitch are exactly what is expected of an RC Lens player. The signing of Hamzat is part of the club’s policy of investing in emerging players with interesting potential. Welcome Hamzat.”
Lens finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season and see the tough Nigerian as one of the players who will help strengthen their squad ahead of the start of next season, having followed him extensively last season.
He has signed a contract that will run until the summer of 2028 according to the statement confirming his announcement on the club’s official website.
