
Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), Awka, at the weekend approved the appointment of Sun newspaper correspondent in Anambra, Aloysius Emeka Attah, as Director of Information and Public Relations.
Others equally appointed were Professor Eze Jacintha Ukamaka – University Librarian, Dr. Jane Ezeonu – Director of Medical Services, Eng. Ibe Obinna – Director of Works Services, Mr. Akuma Paschal. I – Director of Procurement, eng. Ezeokafor Lawrence – Director of Physical Planning and Obi Collins – Head of Security.
The appointment letters identified by Blueprint.ng were signed by the Chancellor and Secretary to the Council, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke, and took effect from 17 April 2026 to terminate after a single term of 5 years.
According to the statement released by the new Director of Information and Public Relations, Attah, the appointments were ratified during the 21st emergency meeting of the Council held on Friday and are expected to strengthen the University’s administrative framework and drive effective service delivery in line with its mandate, mission and vision statements.
It added that the appointment followed a rigorous, merit-based selection process and took effect from April 17, 2026.
“Presenting the letters of appointment at the University Council Hall, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Governors, Barr. Monsur Olugbenga Kukoyi, urged the appointees to justify the trust reposed in them with diligence, integrity and dedicated service.
“He further encouraged them to uphold the values of the University and serve as worthy ambassadors of the institution. The Pro-Chancellor also appreciated the Visitor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, for their commitment towards the revitalization of the education sector and for encouraging thriving research, funding and institutional advancement in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector,” he added.
Attah, speaking on behalf of the new appointees, commended the Pro-Chancellor, members of the internal and external Governing Council, the Vice Chancellor and other members of the interview/selection team, assuring them that they would not only live up to but exceed every expectation asked of them.
