NLO Extends Financial Support to Ailing Former Football Captain and Coach, Hussein Alabi


In a compassionate move, the Nationwide League One (NLO) has provided financial assistance to Hussein Alabi, a former captain of Raccah Rovers and coach for Kano Pillars, who was facing medical challenges.

The NLO management, upon learning of Alabi’s medical treatment needs and financial constraints, intervened by making a generous cash donation to alleviate the immediate financial burden.

Shola Ogunnowo, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the NLO, emphasized the importance of caring for football veterans, describing them as crucial members of the football family.

Ogunnowo recalled Hussein Alabi’s significant contributions to the sport, including captaining Raccah Rovers of Kano against Pele of Brazil during a visit by Fleminese of Brazil to Nigeria.

He expressed the league’s commitment to supporting veterans like Alabi, particularly in accessing quality healthcare services.

The secretary of the Kano Ex-Footballers Association, Aliyu Kassim, extended gratitude to the NLO for its timely and generous assistance.

He acknowledged the collective efforts of various individuals and groups who have contributed to supporting Hussein Alabi in his time of need.

Kassim urged others to emulate such gestures and emphasized the importance of not allowing football veterans to suffer in silence, advocating for continued support for their well-being.

This initiative by the NLO reflects the broader acknowledgment of the contributions of former football players and coaches and highlights the football community’s commitment to their welfare.
