Petroleum Tanker Driver (PTD) has replied to the strike notification issued by the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (Nupeng) for the alleged prevention of dangote refinery for compressed natural gas tanker drivers (CNG) from “joining the trade union”.
Ripples Nigeria has reported that Nupeng has directed the driver of the tanker to the tools down from 8 September.
Against this in a statement on Friday, PTD rejected the direction of the union, which was described as “insensitive”.
“This is a klarion call for all petroleum tanker drivers in Nigeria to ignore the strike notification issued by Nupeng’s leadership. Recognized notifications show that industrial actions will begin to take effect on Monday, September 8, 2025, this is clearly insensitive, unconscious, and unacceptable,” the statement said.
“How can Nupeng low down so low so they don’t even consider it necessary to explore negotiation options or stakeholders dialogue before reaching this?”

“The PTD said that trade unions are expected to be responsible socially and are not selfish, which is” able to damage the country’s socio-economic achievements “.
The union says membership everywhere in this world is voluntary.
According to the association, the dangote refinery plan to import 4,000 natural gas -powered trucks compressed for direct distribution of fuel to retailers “in good condition and for the best interests of the masses”.
“Negotiations and symbiotic relationships cannot be achieved through violence, threats or arrogance, Nigeria is regulated under constitutional democracy, these union leaders must note that very carefully,” said PTD.
In addition, the association said Nupeng, through his actions, had failed to foster peace and harmony in this industry.
