Ogun: Adeola meets Obasanjo ahead of 2027 governorship election

The consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State for the 2027 gubernatorial election, Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, on Tuesday met Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, an aspirant at the forefront of the gubernatorial race.

The meeting, held at Obasanjo’s hilltop residence in Abeokuta, was part of Senator Adeola’s ongoing consultation with party aspirants to create a united front towards the 2027 general elections.

Senator Adeola, while addressing journalists after a closed-door meeting with the daughter of the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, said his intention was to involve everyone for the overall development of the state.

“My visit and commitment is why I am here today, to talk to my sister and all her supporters, to seek their support and understanding. In 2027, I want to see an Ogun State where everyone comes together and works together for the overall development of our dear State.

”So, in essence, I am here to seek your support and kind understanding for the upcoming primaries and general elections of 2027, so that our party, the All Progressives Congress, can emerge victorious by the grace of God.

“She is a noted Nigerian who has served at both state and federal levels. Having served as the Commissioner for Health of this great state and also a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, therefore she is a force to be reckoned with.

“The references that I have gotten since she showed intent to run for governor have been highly commendable from supporters, from people across the length and breadth of this state. What they have said about her is highly commendable and I am very happy because this shows that she will remain a force to be reckoned with not only in Ogun State, even beyond Ogun State.

“I commend and celebrate her for those good works that she has done when the opportunity calls upon her to serve in any capacity that has been given to her. So I commend and thank her, and say that we look forward to working together in the future so that we can take Ogun State to the next level beyond what we are currently seeing,” Adeola said.
