Ogun NLC honors MAPOLY rector with Labor Solidarity Award

The Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC), Ogun State Council, has honored the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Arc. Dr. ‘Koye Jolaoso, with the Distinguished Labor Solidarity Award in recognition of his contribution to staff welfare, institutional development and harmonious working relations within the institution.

The award was presented on behalf of the state workers movement by the Ogun NLC Executive Council, led by its Chairman, Comrade Hameed Benco Ademola, at a ceremony held in Abeokuta.

According to the trade union body, the recognition follows what it described as “significant improvements” recorded at MAPOLY under Jolaoso’s leadership, particularly in the areas of improved working conditions, improved staff welfare packages and a more enabling academic environment.

Ademola, during the presentation of the award, stated that the Rector stood out for leadership anchored in integrity, inclusion and consistent involvement with the workforce.

“Your contribution to institutional growth and your demonstrated commitment to the welfare of workers distinguish you as a leader worthy of emulation. You have consistently shown solidarity with the labor movement and humanity at large,” he said.

The NLC president added that the honor is not only a recognition of personal achievement, but also an encouragement to continued collaboration between management and workers in the education sector.

In his response, the Arc. Dr ‘Koye Jolaoso expressed appreciation to the union body for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to do more to advance the fortunes of the institution.

He noted that his position as the first alumnus to hold the position of rector of MAPOLY comes with a strong sense of responsibility to all stakeholders, adding that leadership must be driven by service, responsibility and collective progress.

Jolaoso also dedicated the award to the management, staff and students of the institute, underlining that the progress recorded so far is the result of teamwork and shared commitment.

“No significant achievement can be achieved in isolation. This honor belongs to the entire MAPOLY community, whose dedication and support continues to drive our reforms,” ​​he said.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Vice Chancellor, Dr. (Mrs.) Yetunde Lanre-Iyanda; the Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Elewodalu; and Bursar, Mrs. Folasade Madariola, FCA, among other members of the institution’s management team.
