Once again, the ADC chief asked the new judge to withdraw Nafiu-Bala-Gombe’s lawsuit

National Welfare Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Nkemakolam Ukandu, has once again asked Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to withdraw from the lawsuit against the party leadership.

Ukandu, in a motion based on a notice dated and filed on June 5 against Nafiu-Bala Gombe’s suit recently submitted to Judge Lifu, urged him to recuse himself pending the petition before the National Judicial Council (NJC).

The petitioner in his petition to the NJC, accused the Chief Judge (CJ) of the court, Justice John Tsoho, and Justice Lifu of alleged bias, corruption and disobedience to the Supreme Court orders in relation to the Bala-Gombe case.

Ukandu filed a separate lawsuit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1165/2026 and filed on June 4, seeking an order compelling the NJC to investigate allegations of corruption and abuse of judicial power against Tsoho.

He listed NJC, Judge Tsoho and Judge Lifu as defendants in the lawsuit.

In the latest motion filed by his lawyer, Kalu-Kalu Agu, ADC chief, who wants to join in Bala-Gombe’s lawsuit, prayed the court to order the new judge not to preside over the case, citing NJC’s petition.

Alternatively, he sought an order to transfer the case file in the suit filed by Bala-Gombe against ADC and four others back to the CJ, pending the hearing and determination of his petition.
