PDP Interim NWC: Wike cannot do anything about ongoing sales of application forms

*His friends receive money through private accounts

*The office of the national leader does not exist in our constitution

The Interim National Working Committee (INWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Tanimu Turaki, says there is nothing Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike can do about the ongoing sales of his nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2027 general elections.

The National Publicity Secretary of INWC, Ini Ememobong, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja while reacting to Wike’s media chat on Wednesday.

Ememobong insisted that the faction would hold primary elections in which a credible presidential candidate would emerge.

He said the party understood Wike’s discontent over the commencement of sale of forms and assets to hold primaries which would culminate in a national convention where a credible Nigerian would emerge as the PDP’s presidential candidate.

On the minister’s comment about banks allegedly opening accounts for the faction to operate, Ememobong said Wike was aware that the interim NWC was managing the party’s accounts, “which is why his group of friends receive money through private accounts”.

He also said the party apologized to Nigerians for offering its platform to Wike through which he became local government chairman, minister of state and governor.

Ememobong also rejected the recognition of Wike as the national leader of the PDP, saying the position does not exist in the party’s constitution.

“On the issues that he (Wike) raised regarding the ruling, pending the release of the certified copies of the rejected cross-appeals, we would be happy for the minister to tell the world what the findings were in the cross-appeals filed by his friends and what the court’s ruling was,” he said.
