The Peoples Democratic Party faction funded by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has announced Senator Sandy Onor as the consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Tuesday at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja by the Chairman of the Presidential Primary Collation Committee and former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.

Ortom said the decision followed consultations and voice votes conducted among party members in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Senator Onor has emerged as the sole aspirant after declaring his intention to contest and obtaining his expression of interest and nomination forms earlier this month.

Announcement

The National Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Abdullahi Zuru and Professor Rhoda Habor Gumus, monitored the exercise at Wadata Plaza.

After the announcement, PDP leaders presented Onor with a certificate of return and the party flag.
