Peter Obi proposed a single -term president for the opposition coalition

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement throughout the world, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has revealed that Peter Obi, a presidential candidate in the Labor Party in the 2023 general election, has submitted a single -term presidential proposal to the opposition coalition that emerged as part of his vision for national transformation.

Tanko made disclosure on Tuesday during the ceremony in Pantami, Gombe State, where Obi was awarded the traditional title of Sarkkan (hero of war). A separate letter of praise, acknowledged its services to the Pantami community, was also presented. In parallel recognition, the former Media Aide received the title and Maje Babba Pantanmi.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Tanko stated the belief that the proposal, which outlines the term of four years for Obi if elected in 2027, will get an attraction among the main opposition stakeholders. He confirmed that the proposal had been submitted to the coalition of opposition leaders, who were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, and former Governor of Kaduna Nasir El-Rufai.

“We have presented it to the coalition. It is for them to make a decision. But we are sure it can succeed,” Tanko said. “This is a statement rooted in integrity, and Peter Obi realizes that. What Nigeria needs now is a leader with integrity.”

According to Tanko, the proposal originated from Obi’s belief that focused and transparent administration could provide significant reforms within four years. “Although the single term does not exist in the constitution, Obi has committed to serving only one term. He believes that four years are more than enough to stabilize key sectors such as electricity, revive the economy, and re -position Nigeria as an exporting country,” he added.

Tanko also discussed Obi’s decision to receive the title of tribal chief, an unusual step for former Anambra Governor who was known for rejecting the award. He noted that the movement of Pantami had a symbolic value, because it was a recognition of the northern community for an IGBO leader.

“Obi is not the person who pursues the title. But this one is special. This is talking a lot about its national revenue, especially in the north where the 2023 support base is relatively weaker,” Tanko explained.

He associated the increasing popularity of Obi in Northern Nigeria with his humanitarian intervention, including the provision of drill holes in rural communities, support for Almajiri schools, and assistance for youth entrepreneurship initiatives. “Local residents now say, ‘Going to take water from Peter Obi’s drilling hole.’ It tells you something has changed, “he said.

Tanko described the recognition as “proof of the inheritance of the construction of the bridge” Peter Obi and the indicator shifted political loyalty ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“Support of grass roots is growing. People are starting to see that Peter Obi is not only a candidate from the East but a Nigerian leader with a national view and a plan for all,” he concluded.
