Police arrest 239 suspicions, recover weapons in Kogi – Thage

In his efforts to eliminate criminal elements through the three districts senators of Kogi, the State Police Command arrested 239 suspicions involved in armed raparies, murder, cultural, rape and illegal possession of firearms, among other crimes.

The police commissioner, the CP Miller G. Dantawaye, revealed it during his briefing for the inaugural press at the headquarters in Lokoja Tuesday.

Dantawaye has attributed the company to a major police guided by intelligence, rigorous patrols along the main highways, incursions on criminal hiding places and the recent agents of the agents from the operating operating fighting training of the command update (Corso 7), aimed at enhancing operational efficacy.

“In line with our determination to free the state of criminal elements of Kogi, we have adopted complete strategies of prevention and control of the crime that are already producing commendable results,” said the CP.

He underlined the importance of the public partnership in maintaining security, appeal to traditional sovereigns, leader of the community, unions, market associations, groups of young people, hunters and vigilantes to collaborate with the police in supporting peace and order.

Highlighting a large turning point, the CP revealed that on 11 May 2025, the agents stationed near the Kogi State University, Kabba, intercepted a green sharon vehicle with Kuj 265 BL recording number after the driver refused to respect a stop-and-search directive.

“The suspicion on the run abandoned the vehicle and fled to the bush. A subsequent search for the vehicle led to the recovery of five AK-47 rifles, eight chargers, 283 rounds of 7.62/39 mm of ammunition, adding 5.56 mm. Suspect.

The CP also revealed that the command arrested: 75 suspicions kidnappers, 66 suspicious armed thieves, 21 for illegal possession of firearms, 18 for murder, 6 for cultural, 4 for rape and 49 others for various crimes

He added that the command recovered many exhibitions during, operations, including 2 AK-49 rifles, 2 pistol pistols, 2 locally produced guns, revolver barrel gun at local level, 1pump-action charger, 9 Ak-47 ammunition expenses and 7 expenses cartridges.

CP Dantawaye has attributed these results to the proactive command strategies and the solid collaboration with the interested parties of the community.

“Our success is anchored to the operations led by intelligence and strong relationships with the policies of the community. No police force anywhere can work effectively without the support of people,” he said.

He urged citizens to continue sharing timely and credible information to help the current security operations, reaffirming the police commitment to guarantee peace and order in the state of Kogi through professionalism, strategic commitment and supervision.
