Power cable collapse: 7 electrocuted, scores hospitalised in Jos


No fewer than seven people were electrocuted in Kabong community, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state.

Scores also sustained various degrees of injuries and are hospitalised at a health facilities in Jos, an eyewitness has said.

An eyewitness Mr. Steven John, told Blueprint correspondent that the incident was a result of electrical High Voltage cable, belonging to the Jos the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC- Disco) that collapsed on Saturday.

“The wires connecting the high tension cable was said to have cut off and landed on neutral cable which immediately sparked off fire that resulted in an inferno which affected over 100 residents,” he said.

The eyewitness further revealed that most of the people were asleep when the incident occurred living many families scrambling for their safety.
