Presidency confirms ISIS killing. leader in US-Nigeria military operations

The Presidency has confirmed the killing of Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, a senior ISIS leader in a joint Nigeria-United States military operation.

The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement posted on his X handle on Saturday.

US President Donald Trump announced the successful implementation of the operation via a social media post on Friday evening.

Onanuga also clarified that previous reports of the killing of terrorists in a 2024 airstrike in Birnin Gwari forest of Kaduna State was a case of mistaken identity.

He wrote: “Security officials have now clarified that the previous listing was a case of mistaken identity or misattribution in the fog of ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

“Most importantly, intelligence has now confirmed that the Birnin Gwari theater was never within Al-Manuki’s operational scope, negating the accuracy of previous assessments.”
