Governor Siminalayi Fubara says Rivers State will complete all ongoing infrastructure projects despite the current political situation.
Speaking during an inspection of the new Airport Ring Road in Port Harcourt on Friday, Fubara said the project has reached 65% completion. He told residents that the administration is still focused on doing things that have a direct impact on their lives.
“I want to assure our people that despite the current situation, every good work we have started will continue and we will complete it,” Fubara said. “We’re in good spirits. As we always say, Rivers First.”
The governor explained that the ring road was designed to provide airport communities with an alternative route and stop frequent blockages on the main road to Port Harcourt International Airport.
“We’ve always had these issues where the community blocks the airport road to express anger at the airport authorities,” he said. “In a modern society, such actions are no longer necessary because every time they happen, they affect the economic activities of the state. So we collaborated with the community and created this bypass.”
After being accompanied on site by contractors, Fubara said he was satisfied with the pace of work and expected the entire project to be delivered before October 2026.
