Senator Effiong Bob and wife celebrate the Comfort FM award for best radio station in the South-South

Uyo (Core Reporters) – The Executive Chairman of Comfort 95.1 FM, Senator Effiong Bob, and his wife, Mrs. Comfort Effiong Bob, have celebrated the staff of the station following its emergence as the Best Radio Station in South-South Nigeria at the 7th Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards (NBMA) 2026.

The station’s Head of Programmes, George Iniabasi Essien, popularly known as Mighty George, who holds a Guinness World Record, also emerged as Nigeria’s best sportscaster at the awards ceremony held in Lagos last week.

Senator Bob congratulated the management and staff of the station for the achievement, stressing that the award reflects the station’s ability to stand out among more than 90 radio stations operating in the six states of the South-South geopolitical zone: Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Edo.

The legal luminary attributed the station’s success to teamwork, excellence, passion, creativity, integrity and professionalism, which he described as values ​​rooted in the organisation’s corporate culture.

Furthermore, the President’s wife, Mrs Comfort Effiong Bob, attributed the achievement to the grace of God, who, she said, endowed the staff with the wisdom and ability to carry forward the vision of the station.

He praised staff for their dedication and commitment, urging them to uphold the standard that has earned the station recognition.

Earlier, the management team, led by the station’s Executive Advisor, Samuel Enobong Akpan, an experienced broadcast media manager and member of the Nigerian Editors’ Guild, welcomed the President, his wife and other dignitaries to the celebration.

Akpan said Comfort FM was deliberate in its programming and pursuit of excellence, adding that the station’s commitment to quality broadcasting culminated in the three awards it received at the 7th NBMA.

The highlight of the celebration was the formal presentation of award plaques to Senator Bob and his wife by Akpan and Mighty George.

The presentation was accompanied by dancing, group photographs and champagne showers as management and staff celebrated the station’s achievements.

The event attracted numerous personalities, including the Hon. Emmanuel Obot, as well as major clients of the station, including Pastor Inim Junior and Mr Nkeruwem Onung.

The celebration was also attended by members of the management team, speakers, analysts and other staff. Some of the station’s flagship programs, including Issues in the News, The Gladiators, and its sports program, were represented by their anchors and analysts.

Listeners, fans and administrative staff were also part of the meeting, which brought together station management, employees, customers and other stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of Comfort 95.1 FM, Uyo.

As part of the celebration, Senator Bob and his wife presented monetary gifts to the staff in appreciation for their contributions to the station’s success.

Hon. Obot, Onung and Inim Junior also made monetary donations, arousing enthusiasm and appreciation from those present.
