Seven NPFL players have been named in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Unity Cup, following a round of domestic scouting trips by head coach Eric Chelle, who was recently seen at multiple Nigerian Premier Football League matches assessing the form of local players.

The call-ups highlight strong national representation, with Ikorodu City FC leading the way after three of their players Michael Atata, Aderemi Adeoye and Tosin Oyedokun were included in the squad.

Rangers International FC also gained dual representation, with Chibueze Oputa and Obinna Igboke on the roster, reflecting the club’s continued production of talent at national team level.

The remaining NPFL spots went to Elias Ochobi of Rivers United FC and Ayobami Junior of Shooting Stars SC, who has been more of a playmaker for his team this season, completing the seven-man local contingent for the tournament.

Chelle’s presence at NPFL matches in recent weeks is understood to be part of a wider effort to strengthen the Super Eagles set-up with national league players for the unity cup team.
