Tension in Edo as the Secretariat of the NLC of the Police Seal, the inaugurated guardian committee

The crisis that shook the Edo state chapter from the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) getting deeper on Thursday when the police sealed the Adams Oshiomhole labor building in Benin City, while the national leadership of the union continued to inaugurate the caregiver committee despite increasing opposition.

Sweet, which was originally planned for the labor building, was first transferred to the University Academic Staff Secretariat (ASUU) at the Benin Ugbowo University campus, before being moved again following the report that the place had leaked to several labor leaders.

When that day arrived, tight security throughout the city of Benin. Armed police officers flawed a workforce house, while patrol vehicles and armor bearers were placed outside the building. The presence of heavy police was also considered at the Uniben gate.

Finally, the inauguration held at a secret location where the Professor on Monday Igbafen was appointed as Chair of the NLC National Official Committee led by Camelarad Oluwole Sunday. He urged a new team to quickly restore peace in the problematic chapter and prepare the land for new elections.

“The new committee must resolve internal disputes and ensure the selection of substantive executives,” Oluwole said.

In his acceptance comments, Igbafen promised to reconcile all the disadvantaged factions.

“I will work to unite all EDO NLC members and make sure the Congress stands strongly again,” he convinced.

The inauguration continued even though the resolution by the House of the Edo State Council on Tuesday, which had urged the NLC to suspend the plan and continued to recognize the temporary leadership led by Bernard Egwakhide’s friend.

Some labor leaders who gathered at the labor building expressed disappointment after being locked from the venue by the security operator.

Camelarad Augustine Igben from the Nigerian Maritime Workers Union (MWUN) said he was surprised by the change of events.

“I am not allowed to enter. There is a lot of security in the labor building. This is a matter of labor, and I believe this problem can be resolved internally,” he said.

Meanwhile, several union members Edo criticized the process, on the grounds that more consultations and dialogues should precede the inauguration of guard leadership.
