The Court recognizes the kidnapper telephone conversation suspected as evidence

Judge Nkeonye Maha from the Federal High Court, Ibadan, on Thursday recognized in evidence of detailed telephone conversations in which a suspected kidnapper, Abubakar Abdulazeez, demanded that N20 million ransom from businessman relatives.

The judge received a joint telephone conversation with other evidence tendered by witnesses to the State Service Department (DSS), Mr. Tunde Afolabi.

Afolabi in his testimony stated that Abdulazeez carried out a series of telephone calls to the business of entrepreneurs to negotiate the ransom of N20 million for his release.

He also submitted a SIM card, a double ITEL telephone, and a letter written by the defendant as evidence before the court.

“Our latest investigation of Naima, Abdulazeez’s sibling, who is the original owner of the telephone used in negotiating the ransom, is that he is now married and moved to northern Nigeria,” the witness said.

Witnesses in February testified that DSS took action after receiving a tribal call on March 7, 2024, that the businessman was kidnapped on Jalan Aakake-Saki.

The judge postponed the problem until July 8 for the continuation of the trial.
