The court rejected the challenge to the APC convention

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday dismissed a lawsuit challenging the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention.

An APC member, Mr Fubara Dagogo, has applied to the court to annul the recently held convention.

The judge, in his decision, stated that the court did not have jurisdiction to hear cases related to the internal affairs of political parties.

He believes that the problems surrounding the nomination of candidates and the purchase of nomination forms, including expression of interest forms, cannot be justified.

The judge, who dismissed the suit, fined Dagogo and his lawyer N10 million each, ruling in favor of all four respondents.

Dagogo, a candidate, filed a lawsuit to challenge his alleged exclusion from the party convention.

The plaintiff through his lawyer, Ogochukwu Onyema, said the APC and the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, as defendant.

Others are the party’s Deputy National Chairman, South-South, Victor Giadom, and National Organizing Secretary, Suleiman Muitamma.

In the initial summons marked FHC/ABJ/CS/591/2026 dated March 22 and submitted on March 23 by his attorney, Dagogo asked for six reliefs.

The aggrieved candidate prayed the court to annul the results of any party congress for the post of Deputy National Chairman, South-South, without his physical participation.

He urged the court to determine whether there could be a legitimate zonal congress for the South-South with his alleged unlawful exclusion after he was released and paid for his expression of interest and nomination forms.
