The death toll in Niger who destroyed floods reached 115

The death toll in a destroying flood that destroyed Niger’s state had reached 115 people.

The north-middle state was rocked by flash floods that followed a few hours of heavy rain between Wednesday night and Thursday.

Spokesman for the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Ibrahim Hussaini, said in a statement on Thursday in Minna that 21 people were confirmed dead and 10 others stated missing in disaster.

Hussaini confirmed the latest developments for journalists on Friday in Minna.

He said: “We have so far found 115 bodies and more are expected to be found because floods come from a distance and wash people into the Niger River.

“In downstream, the body is still recovering. So, the toll continues to increase.

“Some corpses were found from the debris of a collapsed house. The team will need an excavator to take the corpse from under the debris.”
