Benue State’s governor, Rev. P. Hyacinth alia, dissolved the state executive council and appointed chief of staff.
The head secretary of the governor’s chief, Sir Tersoo Kula, revealed it in a declaration that made available to the media on Wednesday.
According to Kula, the Governor Alia appointed a former state attorney of the State and Commissioner for Justice, Moses Atagar, as Chief of General Staff.
Athegher, an expert administrator, is also a former CEO of acting, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.
His appointment has an immediate effect.
The decision was announced by the governor at the end of the 12th (2025) meeting of the Benue state executive council.
He appreciated all the former commissioners who worked with him for two years, asking those who cannot be recalled or renamed to stay in their party, the all progressive Congress, and continue to collaborate with the system as they are only opening the way to other citizens who could be chosen to replace them also to contribute to their share.
Apart from the head of the staff, the governor announced that the dissolution only affected the commissioners.
Speaking on behalf of the dissolved commissioners, Bemsen Mnyim appreciated to having given them the opportunity to serve the state.
According to Mnyim: “… at every phase of life, wherever you are called to serve is a school.
“We learned a lot as we work with you.”
The former commissioners were commissioned to deliver the permanent secretaries of their ministries as soon as possible.
