The Center for Nigerian Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) said on Thursday Lassa Fever had killed 138 people in the country this year.
NCDC revealed this in its latest situation report shared through its official website.
He added that the deaths recorded from January to now showed the death rate of the 19.3 percent case compared to 18 percent recorded during the same period in 2024.
The agency revealed that a total of 717 confirmed cases were recorded with cases of reporting ondo, Edo, Bauchi, and Benue.
This, according to NCDC, brought the number of states that had reported the Lassa fever case in the country to 18.
The report reads: “Although the number of new cases confirmed decreased slightly from 11 to 10 in the past week, the total death toll remained worrying.
“At least 71 percent of all confirmed cases come from three Ondo states (30 percent), Bauchi (25 percent) and Taraba (16 percent) signify persistent hotspots despite national intervention.
“The most affected age group is 21-30 years, with male sex looks slightly affected than women with a male-female ratio 1: 0.8.”
