The Nigerian Police continues to record operational gains under IGP Disu

Abuja (Core Reporters) The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes in various states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), resulting in the arrest of suspects, rescue of a kidnapped victim, recovery of firearms, ammunition, stolen goods and illicit drugs.

The force’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the state-by-state executive summary of the police’s operational successes on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

In Nasarawa State, police officers on September 4 intercepted armed robbery suspects fleeing from Uluji village in Keana Local Government Area after an alleged robbery incident. The officers engaged the suspects in a gun duel, neutralizing two of them, while another escaped. A shotgun and a stolen motorcycle were recovered. Another suspect, identified as Isaac Michael, was also arrested in connection with the incident.

In Delta State, police officers, rangers and local personnel have rescued a 60-year-old kidnapped victim, Nduka Omoyi, unharmed after an intelligence-led operation in Alisime village. The kidnappers reportedly fled into the bush with gunshot wounds. A mobile phone and an ATM card were recovered.

Also in Delta, officers arrested 10 suspects during a raid on an alleged criminal hideout at Kes Valley Brothel, Abbi. Illicit substances were recovered, including Tramadol, Swinnol, Canadian Loud and Indian Hemp. The suspects are subjected to profiling preparatory to the judicial proceedings.

In another operation in the state, anti-cultism operatives of the police have recovered a custom-made locally made firearm allegedly discarded by hoodlums fleeing along Ibori Road, Oghara. A locally made rifle used by suspected armed robbers was also recovered in Effurun after it was abandoned during an incident.

Three suspects were further arrested following an attack on police officers conducting an investigation at Ekiugbo scrap market, while two motorcycles were recovered.

In Zamfara state, police tactical teams and local vigilantes engaged armed bandits who had blocked the Kwanar Shado-Malele road. The bandits were forced to retreat into the forest with gunshot wounds. Bush combing and manhunt operations are underway to nab the fleeing suspects.

In Kwara State, two suspected bandits, Abubakar Umar and Umar Ayuba, both aged 25, were arrested following intelligence-led operations. Police recovered ₦770,000, two Infinix smartphones, a locally made bulletproof vest, a power bank and other exhibits. The suspects were later handed over to military authorities for further questioning over their alleged involvement in a recent attack in Niger State.

Also in Kwara, police arrested Afolabi Ayomide, 25, after he was allegedly found threatening people with a firearm at the Avalon Hotel, Offa. A locally made Beretta pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition was recovered from him.

In Abia State, police arrested Ogbonnaya Mba in connection with a reported gun threat to kill. A search of his residence resulted in the recovery of a pump action pistol and an AK-47 rifle magazine. Operations are underway to arrest an accomplice who is currently at large.

In Oyo State, seven suspects have been arrested following the attack on two members of a local vigilante group at Agate Mining Camp, Komu. The injured victims were rescued and taken to General Hospital, Komu, for treatment, while efforts are underway to arrest other absconding suspects.

In Taraba State, police officers disrupted an attempt to process and transport vandalized pipes of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). Two suspects, including an alleged receiver and a suspected vandal, were arrested. Eight vandalized long pipes, two gas cylinders and 55 cassava bags allegedly used to hide the pipes during transportation were recovered. The suspects reportedly provided information useful to the police in identifying other accomplices.

In the FCT, detectives arrested Jude Tar, 27, in connection with a report of armed robbery and rape in Pegi. The suspect is helping investigators identify and arrest other fleeing accomplices.

Also in the FCT, four suspected vandals were arrested in the National Mosque area while allegedly vandalizing solar street lights. The vandalized solar light and pole were recovered as exhibits.

In Enugu State, police officers have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the vandalism and theft of government infrastructure in Umueze, Nkanu West Local Government Area. Stolen iron pots and lampposts were recovered.

The Nigeria Police Force said investigations into the various incidents are ongoing, with the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCIDs) handling the cases.
