England captain Harry Kane believes this is his country’s best chance of winning the World Cup.
Kane is coming off an amazing 2025-26 season with Bayern Munich, where he scored over 60 goals in all competitions.
Combining his current best fitness with a team that includes talents such as Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, the captain, in a chat with itvfeels fully confident that they will be able to end England’s 60-year trophy drought.

“This is my third tournament now, with the form I’m in and also after the season I’ve had, it’s probably the best chance I’ll have in my entire career to win the World Cup,” he told ITV Sport.
“We haven’t won in an England shirt for 60 years, we’ve come very close and knocked on that door. But now it’s time to cross that line.
“This tournament could always be my last, you never know in football. I want to play for a long time, I feel as good as ever, I feel at my best.
“But you never know what the future holds with injuries.”
No European player has scored more World Cup and Euro knockout goals than Kane, but are there any records he’ll be looking to break in this summer’s tournament?

He said: “For me it would be incredible, but I’m a bit far away at the moment. He has the most goals in the World Cup (Miroslav Klose, 16).
“But maybe the most goals in the World Cup by an English player. That’s 10 from Gary Lineker, and I have 8 at the moment. So I have a good World Cup, I will be able to surpass Lineker in that aspect.”
