Three doctors fired for protesting against poor well -being at the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja

According to reports, three doctors at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, in the state of Kogi, were fired for having peacefully protested against what they described as deterioration of working conditions and bad well -being at the institution.

The Times platform reports that the affected doctors, who had participated in various protests over time, were also pushing for the restoration of their president of the suspended association, dr. Jimh Umar.

They requested an independent investigation in the alleged decay of the hospital and what they called long -standing management failures.

According to Protestant doctors, the hospital did not face critical challenges, including a serious lack of labor, dilapidated structures and lack of institutional support for healthcare professionals.

They complained that many of their colleagues had been maintained to rolling appointments for two months without access to pensions, promotions, risk allowances or even the minimum wage recently approved.

One of the key concerns raised was that the hospital had not recruited new doctors since 2012, leading to a significant drop in the number of medical personnel.

The protesters claimed that this abandonment paralyzed the provision of the service and placed an overwhelming burden on the remaining workforce.

They also denounced the practice of keeping healthcare professionals on long -term agreements, describing it as an exploiter and an important contribution to the persistent deficiency of professionals in the structure.

Protestant doctors appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Health, Dr. Ali Pate, to intervene by launching an independent investigation into the hospital affairs and guaranteeing responsibility within his management.

However, the hospital unions came out in support of the chief medical director, moving away from the accusations and soliciting that any disciplinary problems involving Protestant doctors are managed internally.

They underlined their trust in the cmd leadership and rejected the claims of doctors as not proven.

At the time of submitting this report, the management of the hospital has not yet issued an official declaration on the dismissal of doctors.
