Tinubu returns from the UK, to spend a Sallah break in Lagos

Tinubu arrived early on Friday along with First Lady Remi Tinubu.

His spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the President will observe the festive break in Lagos.

“President Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu are heading to Lagos for Sallah,” Onanuga wrote on X.

During his visit to the UK, Tinubu called for deeper trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, underlining the importance of strengthening long-standing bilateral relations through increased investment and trade partnerships.

A key event of the trip was the meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, where discussions focused on economic reforms, global challenges, security and climate change.

Tinubu described the visit as “very exciting and significant”, stressing that Nigeria is undergoing major economic reforms and must work closely with international partners to improve the well-being of its citizens.

One of the key outcomes of the visit was the signing of a £746 million deal to modernize infrastructure at Apapa and Tin Can Island ports in Lagos.
