The National President of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated all workers in the country as they mark the 2026 Labor Day celebration, commending their resilience, patriotism and steadfast contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria.
Abimbola Tooki, his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, on Friday said that to mark the occasion, Professor Yilwatda paid warm tribute to Nigerian workers across all sectors of the economy, stressing that their sacrifices, diligence and commitment remain the backbone of national progress.
He particularly recognized the resilience and understanding demonstrated by workers in the face of current economic realities, describing their perseverance as a testament to the strength and character of the Nigerian people.
The APC National Chairman assured workers that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply committed to promoting policies and programs that prioritize the well-being, dignity and prosperity of the Nigerian workforce.
He emphasized that the President remains a pro-worker leader who understands the central role of labor in nation-building.
Professor Yilwatda further noted that the ongoing economic reforms introduced by the current administration are critical and inevitable steps towards repositioning Nigeria towards sustainable growth and long-term prosperity.
He explained that key policy measures, including the removal of fuel subsidies, unification of the foreign exchange system, increased investment in infrastructure, expansion of social intervention programs and a renewed focus on industrialization, aim to address long-standing structural challenges within the economy.
According to him, these reforms are designed to stimulate productivity, improve economic stability, attract both local and foreign investment and create greater opportunities for employment and wealth creation.
While acknowledging that the transition may present short-term challenges, he assured that the Government is implementing targeted interventions to mitigate its effects and ensure that the benefits of these reforms are widely shared among Nigerians.
The APC Chairman reiterated that the sacrifices made by workers today are not in vain, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms will ultimately lead to a more prosperous, inclusive and resilient economy that benefits all citizens.
He called on Nigerian workers to remain steadfast, confident and united in support of the nation’s development agenda, stressing that collective effort and shared commitment are essential to realizing the Nigeria of everyone’s aspirations.
Professor Yilwatda wished all Nigerian workers a happy and fulfilling celebration of Workers’ Day, praying for continued strength, progress and prosperity for them and their families.
