Yobe: Nigerian Air Force commissions special intervention projects


The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a series of special intervention projects in Sabongari Primary School and some communities, in Potiskum Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday K Aneke, represented by Air Vice Marshal A. Idriss, the Air Force Officer Commanding Special Operations Command Bauchi, said the intervention was a key step in the service’s line of non-kinetic operations.

He explained that the projects were designed to win the hearts and minds of the population, build trust and solicit cooperation between the NAF and the communities it serves.

“Globally, civil-military relations have emerged as a panacea to positively shape the national security architecture, underlining that the NAF is attuned to this importance,” explained AVM Idriss,

He emphasized that special intervention projects are carried out in selected communities in honor of the senior officials of those areas to keep them connected to their roots, while contributing to the federal government’s renewed hope agenda.

He noted that the projects commissioned in Yobe State are in honor of Air Vice Marshal Search and Rescue Idi Sani, an illustrious son of the state.

According to him, the project comprises three newly renovated and furnished blocks containing six classrooms and three staff offices at Sabongari Primary School, three renovated blocks comprising six classrooms, one multi-purpose laboratory and four staff offices at Government Girls Day Secondary School, Sabongari.

Others are four new solar-powered wells located in the communities of Majewa, Yindiski Gakoko, Gabar da Kasuwa and Maina Kaina.

AVM Idriss urged beneficiaries to use the facilities responsibly, he also called for continued collaboration with security agencies through the provision of intelligence information to help eliminate threats to the nation.

Project executor, AVM Idi Sani, Director of Search and Rescue, reiterated NAF’s commitment to supporting communities through initiatives that address critical social needs, integrating development efforts from all levels of government.

Governor Mai Mala Buni was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner of the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Creation, Alhaji Aji Yarima Bularafa, who commended the NAF initiative.

Bularafa, noted that the projects align perfectly with the Buni administration’s agenda of bringing modern amenities to the grassroots and improving the standard of living of citizens of Yobe State.

The governor expressed deep gratitude to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force for his vision and dedication of service to this noble cause.
