2027: The group launches the OK Movement for the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket

Even as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) continues to grapple with its internal problems ahead of the 2027 general elections, Peter Obi supporter Rabiu Kwankwaso has launched a new political pressure group, the Obi–Kwankwaso Movement, (OK Movement).

The group, which announced its emergence in Abuja on Monday, said it had established structures in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside the appointment of state and zonal coordinators to drive its mobilization.

The movement’s National Publicity Secretary, Justin Ijeh, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja, describing the initiative as a coalition of political forces consisting of the Obey Movement, Kwankwasiyya, New Nigerian People’s Party and African Democratic Congress.

While speaking to journalists, Ijeh described the new platform as a combination of members from Kwankwasiya, Obidients, NNPP and ADC.

He said, “Nigeria is at a decisive crossroads. Today, when our people bear the burden of unprecedented economic hardship, soaring costs of living, and the persistent specter of insecurity, the Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) Movement officially announces the inauguration of its national and state structures.

“This is more than just a political milestone; it is the birth of a coordinated national machine for systemic reform and national rebirth.

“We recognize the exhaustion that every Nigerian household feels. However, in these dark times, the OK Movement stands as a steadfast beacon of hope.

“This movement is a home for all well-meaning Nigerians. We reject the tribal politics, regionalism and religious sentiments that have long been used to keep our people divided while the country is in decline.”

Ijeh further revealed that the movement has built a strong structure and support base across the country, while announcing a list of state and zonal coordinators.

“In the coming weeks, the official inauguration of our state chapters will begin across the federation.

“This is an open invitation to every Nigerian who believes that the reality we face today is not our final destiny.

“Through solidarity, purposeful leadership, and the courage to demand better, we will win.

“The structure is in place, the vision is clear, the movement is here and together, we will make Nigeria fine,” he said.
