25 days later, the 2 year old toddler, teacher, school children kidnapped in Oyo are still in captivity

It has been 25 days since bandits stormed Ogbomosho town in Oyo State and took away 46 teachers, students and children including a two-year-old child who was tied to his mother’s back.

Despite assurances from the federal government, the state governor, Seyi Makinde, and various security agencies, the abductees continue to languish in the kidnappers’ den.

The victims were abducted on May 15 after gunmen attacked the Baptist Kindergarten and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and LA Primary School in Ogbomoso, all located in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

While in captivity, tragedy struck when one of the teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was beheaded by bandits, and a disturbing video of the murder circulated on social media.

In the video, the victim is tied up and forced to speak before being brutally killed by gunmen.

After 25 days, it remains unclear when the victims will breathe the air of freedom again and be reunited with their families and loved ones, as many Nigerians are skeptical of the government’s ability to keep its citizens safe, or ensure that the criminals involved in the act are brought to justice.
