Suspected Boko Haram elements on Thursday infiltrated #EndBadGovernance protesters along Baga Road in Maiduguri and killed four people.
At least 34 other people suffered varying degrees of injuries in the incident.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Lawal, disclosed this to journalists in Maiduguri.
He said police quickly deployed the Explosive Disposal Ordnance (EOD), Base 13, which investigated the crime scene and made the area around the gas station safe.
Lawal said the injured and bodies were evacuated to the Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri for treatment and autopsy.
The CP, who spoke on the police statement on the 24-hour curfew in the state, said many minors, mostly almajiris, aged between 9 and 15 years, took over the Maiduguri-Kano Road to vandalize public properties.

He noted that despite police persuasion, the crowd turned violent, forcibly breaking through police barricades, throwing stones at officers, and advancing toward the city center.
He added that the rioters later spread to other parts of Maiduguri Municipality and stormed the Borno State Mechanical Workshop along Baga Road.
“They looted vocational skills acquisition equipment, and damaged five official vehicles belonging to BOTMA.”
According to him, 14 suspects have been arrested and are currently being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in the state capital.
