Senator Shehu Buba Umar representing Bauchi South Senatorial District has stated that he has accepted his dismissal as Mujaddadin of Bauchi by the Bauchi Emirate Council in good faith.
In doing so, he emphatically warned Bauchi Emirate to resist any attempt by political actors to drag it into the political arena thereby serving their selfish interests.
The development came in response to his removal as the traditional title holder of Mujaddadin Bauchi by the Bauchi Emirate Council on Wednesday.
In a reply letter dated August 14, 2024, Buba stated that, “My statement was well-intentioned and in defense of a higher authority than the Governor. I regret that the Bauchi Emirate Council hastily resolved the matter without giving me a fair opportunity to hear it.”
He stressed that, “I accept their decision in good faith, hoping that Allah SWT will send a savior to Bauchi State to rectify this situation in due time.”
He also stated, “I advise the Bauchi Emirate Council to resist any attempt by political actors to drag it into the political arena, for their personal interests. I pray that the Emir of Bauchi remains healthy and in power for a long time, and is able to effectively steer the affairs of his Emirate.”
The letter read: “I received with great surprise, your letter dated 14th August 2024, informing me of the decision of the Bauchi Emirate Council to strip me of my traditional title, Mujaddadin Bauchi. This decision was made based on allegations that I insulted Governor Bala Mohammed during a recent campaign rally.”

He further wrote, “I wish to state emphatically that, since entering partisan politics, I have firmly adhered to a policy of constructive criticism, refraining from insulting or abusive language. My approach has always been aimed at fostering a better society.”
According to him, “After hearing Governor Bala’s disparaging comments about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I felt obliged to defend the President against what I perceived as a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation and cause public discord. I did so during the recent APC campaign.”
The senator added that “Governor Bala’s rhetoric, as captured in various multimedia content, was confrontational, accusatory, abusive, and defamatory, including emotional.
Language that is intended to threaten national security because it arouses emotions
than reason.”
“I must emphasize that Governor Bala’s accusations against President Tinubu are politically motivated, baseless, baseless, and not supported by concrete data and evidence,” he added.
He explained that, In my response: I refuted Governor Bala’s claim that the Tinubu-led administration was abusing its authority, and instead accused the governor of committing violence against the people of Bauchi State on several occasions.”
He added, “I submit that Governor Bala has received more than Rp144 billion from the Federation Account in 2023 and more than Rp47 billion from January to date, with a projection of Rp195 billion by the end of the year, and I question the use of the funds.”
“I also convey that Governor Bala’s accusations against President Tinubu are baseless and motivated by political interests. I ask Governor Bala to justify his management of state finances, considering that the people are already screaming of hunger, even though they have received billions of Naira from the Federation Account.”
“I affirm that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has worked tirelessly to secure the country, stabilize the economy and ensure peaceful coexistence without dividing the society, unlike Governor Bala,” he asserted.
