Exposing Governor Godwin Obaseki’s Lawlessness: A Legacy of Abuse of Power, Contempt for the Rule of Law and Tyranny

In the annals of Nigerian political history, Governor Godwin Obaseki is sadly one of the leaders who have shown blatant disregard for the rule of law and separation of powers. Obaseki’s rise to power was not a testament to his political acumen or record of public service, but rather the result of grace. His flagrant abuse of power showed his ingratitude to Providence. This is a man who rose to power without political history, connections or financial support and became governor not by merit, but by favor.

Obaseki’s journey to the governorship is a prime example of how lack of proper political training can lead to a leadership style characterized by callousness and tyranny. Over the past 7 years, Obaseki has proven himself to be a leader with utter disregard for the rule of law and separation of powers, who lacks empathy for the people he was elected to serve through his heartless policies and blatant disregard for the welfare of the citizens of Edo State.

In stark contrast, Senator Monday Okpebholo has deep empathy and political maturity and has demonstrated over the years that he has enormous respect for the rule of law and a passion for serving his people.

The upcoming Edo 2024 gubernatorial election is a critical opportunity for the people of Edo State to correct the negative and regressive trajectory that Obaseki has set for Edo. His designated candidate, Asue Ighodalo, is out of the same race as Obaseki. He is already showing signs of a more virulent leader who thinks he knows it all. One who will be a disastrous continuation of lawlessness and disregard for the people and their needs.

The people of Edo State must reject this attempt to perpetuate Obaseki’s misguided legacies. It is time to elect a leader who has not only been tested in the political arena, but also has a proven track record of putting people first and has tremendous respect for the rule of law. Senator Monday Okpebholo represents the right choice: a leader with integrity, experience and a genuine commitment to the well-being of Edo State. His leadership offers a break from the past, an opportunity for real progress and a government that will serve the people rather than one that governs them.

This September, the choice is clear. Reject Obaseki’s continued lawlessness and vote for Senator Monday Okpebholo, a leader who will restore dignity, accountability and genuine service to the office of the Chief Executive of Edo State.
