“I expected us to win”: Sporting Lagos fan speaks after frustrating Ikorodu City draw

A Sporting Lagos fan, Andy Paul, has expressed his disappointment at the team’s finish after they drew goalless against Ikorodu City on Wednesday.

The fan, speaking after the match, described the match as a difficult debut match but said Sporting Lagos deserved more from the match for their overall performance.

According to Andy, Sporting Lagos played better football but failed to take advantage of their opportunities in the closing stages of the match.

“I was really disappointed with the performance of the team I supported,” said the fan, adding that he would still accept the point won in the match.

Andy also singled out Sporting Lagos defender Abraham Idakwo as his personal best player of the match, praising the player for his versatility and ability to help the team get the ball out from the back.

“He was very, very versatile. He was solid, he played our ball and he was my best player of the game,” he said.

Before the final whistle, the fan admitted that he expected Sporting Lagos to win the match at least 1-0, but in the end he was satisfied with the point as neither team managed to break the deadlock.

He described the atmosphere inside the stadium as “electrifying” and praised the fans for creating a lively atmosphere throughout the match.

“It was the real Lagos derby we were waiting for, and I hope that as the league progresses, we will see more of this type of Lagos derby,” he added.

The fan, however, identified finishing as the main area that Sporting Lagos needs to improve, urging the players to work on their composure in front of goal during training.

“Sporting Lagos was the best team. They played very well, but their finishing was very poor,” he said.

The goalless draw leaves both teams sharing the points as Sporting Lagos continue their campaign, and their supporters will hope that the team can convert their offensive performance into goals in the upcoming matches.
