The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has approved Governor Douye Diri’s request to appoint 12 additional special advisers.
The House, which resumed its recess on Wednesday, received three letters from the state government, including the governor’s request for the appointment of 12 special advisers.
He also sought House approval for the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) as well as the screening and confirmation of two nominees for the State Independent National Electoral Commission (BYSIEC).

House Pro-Temporary Leader Wisdom Fafi moved to approve the governor’s request to appoint more special advisers.
Another member of parliament, Tare Pori, agreed with the proposal.
However, the House deferred the screening and confirmation of BYSIEC nominations and consideration of the MTEF/FSP to the next legislative session.
