Meta will train the AI system using Facebook and Instagram posts

American multinational technology conglomerate Meta has finalized plans to train its Artificial Intelligence (AI) system with Facebook and Instagram posts from its UK user base.

The company, which announced the move on Friday, said it had incorporated regulatory input to make its revamped “opt-out” strategy more transparent.

Additionally, he aims to depict these changes to allow his generative AI models to “reflect British culture, history and idiom.”

The move comes after Meta decided in mid-June to delay the launch of its AI model in Europe in response to a directive from Ireland’s privacy regulator to delay the company’s intention to collect data from social media posts.

The company further stated that the delay would allow it to respond to inquiries from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK.

“Since we paused the training of our generative AI models in the UK in response to feedback from regulators, we have engaged positively with the ICO… this clarity and certainty will help us bring AI to Meta products in the UK more quickly,” Meta said in a statement.
