‘A pack of lies’ – Presidency dismisses report Tinubu ordered Cardoso to resign as CBN governor

The Presidency has dismissed reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Yemi Cardoso to resign as a pack of lies.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the clarification in a post on his X account on Tuesday.

He was reacting to reports emerging in recent days that the President had lost patience with the country’s number one banker over the naira’s plunge.

The President appointed Cardoso as CBN governor on September 15, 2023.

“It’s all lies. President Tinubu did not ask Yemi Cardoso to resign,” Onanuga said, dismissing the report.
