The Presidential Committee on the Implementation of Livestock Sector Reforms on Thursday submitted its report to President Bola Tinubu.
The president inaugurated the committee in July to address farmers-herders conflicts in the country.
The idea was also initiated to overcome agricultural productivity constraints and open up new opportunities for players in the sector.
The committee is led by former chairman of the National Election Commission (KPU), Prof. Attahiru Jega.

In a chat with State House reporters after he presented the report to the president, Jega said the committee identified how the Federal Government could wisely leverage the livestock industry to boost the country’s economy.
He added that the committee recommended solutions to farmer/herder clashes across the country.
The chairman stressed that open ranching and grazing could coexist in the short term until the government provided adequate infrastructure to support full ranching implementation.
