Tinubu: Wike is demonstrating the diversity of Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu explained on Sunday to Abuja that his administration has removed the territory of the federal capital (FCT) by the single account of the Treasury (TSA) to accelerate the development and improve the participation of residents in governance.

The president, who received FCT residents in the presidential villa for the tribute of Sallah, said that the bureaucracy associated with TSA was hindering the growth of infrastructures in the capital and had to be revised for impact and progress.

The Minister of FCT, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, led the residents during the tribute.

President Tinubu stressed that the liberation of the EFCT from TSA restrictions quickly catalyzed the improvements of infrastructure, improved health services and the increase in safety measures.

“I remember the day when the Minister of FCT came to meet me and said, please take us out of the TSA problem so that he can do more work and get more. I said to show me what you are about to do and presented his thought and his belief.

“And everything started to change quickly. I started seeing the opening of the rural areas by the FCT, the resuscitation of the abandoned projects and the completion of the official residence of the vice -president who was abandoned for years. The FCT has rehabilitated the health centers, updated the structures for the children of the schools and supplied furniture.

President Tinubu thanked the Minister of FCT for showing that liberation from bureaucracy and for the renovation of the public service FCT was necessary so that public employees could aspire to higher positions and provide leadership.

“We would not have been able to open the mouth to celebrate except because of the progressive ideas you led to FCT. Now we can celebrate the innovative ideas brought to the FCT,” said President Tinubu.

President Tinubu has encouraged FCT residents and other Nigerians to look beyond ethnic and religious colors in their leadership choices and focus more on the results.

“Today we live in peace and security is improving. Hunger is going down. Food prices are lowering. We can go to the market and do business. And our diversity and our belief in ourselves are becoming stronger.

“We are not looking for magic. We are looking for results. We are looking for comfort. We are praying for good health. We are looking for someone I care,” observed the president.

“Work does not only concern wike or me, but everyone. Nyesom Wike is demonstrating the diversity of Nigeria. He has strengthened that diversity to develop prosperity, showing us that we are all members of a family, who live together in the same house, in different rooms and under the same roof,” said the president.

President Tinubu urged more tolerance, mentality and patriotism.
“Everything appeal is tolerance for, which brought us so far. We learned some lessons from Ramadan. The lessons can continue to be with us,” he said.

The Minister of FCT thanked the president for hosting the residents in the state chamber.

“This visit marks a historical moment as it is the first time that FCT residents can extend our greetings and best wishes to you in person during this Benedict period. We are really happy to be here”.

Wike promised his loyalty to the president and undertaken to develop the capital, ensuring that the FCT would soon complete many projects.

“Despite our various backgrounds, we are united in our constant support for your administration and the renewed agenda of hope,” he added.

The vice -president, Senator Kashim Shettimo, National Security Councilor, Nuhu Ribadu and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, participated in the ceremony.
