Twice CFC champions of Tunisia arrived in the quarterfinals after a 3-0 victory (25-11, 25-17, 25-20) on Sienegal’s Sococim in their round of sixteen draws in the championship of the 2025 African women’s volleyball club (Awvcc).
Soc started shaky with a series of defects and followed 8-1. The CFC team raised the game and made a madness killed to lead 16-8. Soc nailed a peak, however the CFC continued to take the set 25-11 safely.
It seemed that Soc had found an explosion of energy in the second set. They hurried to each ball with some great diving bailouts to go out 11-11. It wasn’t to last. The CFC attacked hard and some CFC errors meant they were on the loser. The Senegalese team was not up to the task of marching this Tunisian dress, CFC won the 2nd set 25-17.
The CFC led 13-4 when Soc replied with a 13-8 LED, forcing the CFC to call a timeout.
Soc closed it with a block and an ace for the surprise of CFC.
CFC took the final points to win 25-20 and ensure their place in the quarterfinals.
Later, the hosts, the volleyball team of the customs women of Nigeria, will face each other against the Volleyball club of Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in the 16 round.
Customs women went to the direct elimination phase of the tournament after an imposing victory in their opening match, where they defeated Mayo Kane Evolution (Mke) of Cameroon 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-22). However, they have undergone losses in the last two games against Carthage of Tunisia and Apr del Rwanda.
On the contrary, KCB won their first two games but fell to Ahly of Egypt 3-2 in their most recent meeting.
