IGP gave orders to line up to the Commander of the Cellular Squadron

Responding to the increasing wave of violent attacks in Nigeria, the Police Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, announced on Tuesday that the direct distribution of special squads to combat bandits and increased crime forms.

During the meeting with the Commander of the Mobile Force (PMF) squadron in Abuja on Tuesday, a day that saw Bandit claimed the lives of 21 people in Kwara, Benue, and the state of Sokoto, IG issued directions for all PMF squadrons to maintain at least one unit that was fully ready for combat, constant fighting, soon effective.

This instruction came with a background in increasing attacks on residents in the highlands, benues, enugu, and other regions in recent weeks.

Overcoming the squadron commander, Egbetokun emphasizes the PMF core function and the need for direct readiness. “PMF was created as a strike force-to be fast, determine and ready for combat. Immediately, all PMF squadrons are directed to maintain at least one complete unit and are ready to fight at the standby at any time,” he said.

He further outlines operational expectations for this standby unit. “These units must be prepared to support their respective state orders in any situation that requires urgent tactical intervention. In addition, each squadron will be asked to send one unit for training every quarter. This session will exceed operational skills, provide strong emphasis on ethics, professionalism and responsible polling principles.”

Egbetokun also announced the PMF restructuring plan to improve its efficiency and agility. “At present, the size of the squadron will be reviewed and reduced to ensure operational effectiveness and agility. From now on, the PMF Commander will be considered responsible in representatives of the behavior of their personnel. You are expected to lead proactively through routine lectures, inspections and localized training programs that strengthen discipline, respect human rights and operational excellence.”

Repeating direction about the withdrawal of cellular police from escorting duties, IG expressed concern over the impact that occurred on PMF tactical abilities. “As you know, the direction has been issued regarding the withdrawal of PMF personnel from official distribution. It is the task of all commanders to establish this direction without delay. A company but a gradual withdrawal of non-inti assignments is also happening.

The police boss clarifies that all forms of indiscipline in the ranks of cellular police will no longer be tolerated.

“The Nigerian police will no longer allow values, standards, and disciplines that have defined police mobile troops to be damaged. As a Nigerian police strike forces, PMF brings great responsibilities to face armed threats, rebellions and criminal violence with integrity and courage,” Egbetokun said.
