Disorders of the flight towering when Air Peace closes national operations over the Nimet strike

Flight disruption appeared in the Nigerian aviation room as the Nigerian airline, Air Peace, has announced a direct suspension from all of its flight operations in Nigeria.

This follows the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Meteorology Agency, Nimet.

The airline made this decision known in a statement on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Air Peace said the decision was taken for the sake of passenger safety, due to nimet weather renewal, especially the current dangerous weather, CNH, reports, it is very important for safe flight landing during the rainy season.

The statement reads, “We regret telling you that because of the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Meteorology Agency (Nimet), Air Peace has suspended all national flight operations directly.

“This decision is needed because Nimet is an agent who is responsible for issuing CNH reports (now now from dangerous weather), which is very important for safe landing, especially during the heavy rainy season and lightning storms. Without this report from the control tower, flight safety cannot be guaranteed.

“We understand this can cause discomfort, and we sincerely apologize. Passengers will be contacted with an update and option for rescheduling.”

Previously, Air Peace had announced that there might be a possibility of postponement of flights and cancellations in all operations due to strikes.

“We want to tell you that the ongoing industrial action by the Nigerian Meteorology Agency (NIMET) can cause interference, including the possibility of flight and cancellation delays, throughout our network today.

“We are currently monitoring the situation and working with relevant stakeholders to minimize the impact on your travel plan.

“We sincerely regret this discomfort can cause and respect your patience and understanding so far”.

This was then updated to the total operation suspension which can now cause the closure of Nigerian flight operations as a fixed strike.
