Members of the river state caucus in the National Assembly have promised their full support for the re -election of Bola President Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 General Election, quoting the “New Hope Agenda” as a proven path towards Nigerian economic recovery and national progress.
Caucus, consisting of two senators and seven members of the House of Representatives, all of which are members of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP), made their public attitude in a joint statement read by journalists by Senator Barry Mpigi at Port Harcourt on Saturday.
“We, members of the National Assembly from the State of Rivers, have carefully reviewed the economic policy of the President of Tinubu and the state of the state he inherited on May 29, 2023. After our comprehensive assessment, we came to the conclusion that the updated agenda of hope offers the most certain path of Nigerian economic challenges,” the statement was read.
They highlighted some of the achievements under the Tinubu administration, including the decline in inflation rates, important reductions in Nigerian foreign debt, and positive economic growth projections supported by International Monetary Funds (IMF). The law makers also praised Tinubu’s quick intervention in political tension within the State of Rivers, describing their actions as important in establishing a path to lasting peace.
Reflecting on their political history, Caucus reminded the public about their role in the 2023 election, where they campaigned with enthusiasm under the leadership of the former Governor of the State Rivers and now the Minister of Federal Capital (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to ensure Tinubu’s victory.

“As a member of the National Assembly from the State of Rivers, we declare our unconditional determination to work again for the re -election of Ball President Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” the statement continued. “We are committed to starting widespread mobilization efforts to imitate and exceed our 2023 success.”
MPs expressed their gratitude to President Tinubu for his trust in Wike, noted his appointment as FCT Minister and his public praise about Wike’s performance, calling it “Ruler of Infrastructure.”
In a strong appeal to other political actors, Rivers Caucus urged those who have the aspirations of the President to reconsider their ambitions for national stability and progress.
“We ask all Nigerians to support the consolidation of the new hope agenda,” they said. “We are further attractive to candidates for presidential candidates, especially those who have despair and repeated ambitions, to put aside their interests and unite behind the leadership of President Tinubu for the good of the nation.”
The statement was signed jointly by Senator Barry MPIGI, Senator Allwell Onyesoh, and representatives of Dumnamene Decor, Solomon Bob, Felix Nwake, Kelechi Nwogu, Cyril Hart, Victor Obuzor, and Berkah Amadi.
