The highlight of the Stephen Simon Izolo wine tournament, who broke a drought of the four -year -old gold medal in the male category by defeating Farouk Jelassi from Tunisia 5–1 in the 65 kg freestyle final.
His victory marked Nigeria’s first male gold in the continental championship since 2021, causing celebrations between the coaches and fans.
“This means everything to me and for the Nigerian struggle. I knew I had to do what I would tell. I’m proud to make history today,” said Izolo, visibly emotional after his victory.
