Abdulfatai, Title of Udoaka Claims in 2025 Nat’l Table Tennis Champs

Abdulbasit Abdulfatai Kwara and Cross River’s Hope Udoaka emerged as champions at the Michael and Felicia Alabi Alabi National Table Tennis Championship, which was held in the historic city of Otan Ayegbaju, Osun state.

With the defending champions who came out in the quarter-finals, Abdulfatai had a smooth journey to the final, where he was amazed by the giant Matthew Fabunmi with a 4-0 victory (12-10, 11-4, 11-4, 11-7) to lift the men’s singles.

In the women’s singles final, Udoaka dominated the meeting, defeating Veteran Halima Hussain from Oyo 4-1 (11-5, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7, 11-7) to be crowned as a new champion.

In the U-15 Categories, Ifeoluwa Ajasa of Lagos Triumped Over Deborah Faleye of Edo 3-1 (11-8, 6-11, 11-6, 11-7) to win the girls’ title, While Marvecelous Joseph of Kogi Overcame Umar Ayoola Become The Boys’ Champion.

Referee tournament John Peter described this year’s event as a unique table tennis and combined with entertainment, because the participants enjoyed performances by various artists every day.

“The Michael and Felicia Alabi table tennis festival is a combination of games and pleasure.

“The game standard continues to rise from stage to stage, peaked in overthrowing the defending champions in the two men and women single on the quarter -finals.

“The new champion appeared in most of the 15 events, and the new dimensions were added to the organization, with students voluntarily and helped in all fields,” Peter said.

The five -day Grand Final Tournament was decorated by the Governor of State Osun, Adeleke Adeemola Senator, accompanied by the Chairman of the Osun State Council Council, Adewale Egbedun, and the Otan Ayegbaju Kingdom’s father, HRM ọba Adesola Ojo Fadiping,.

N11.5M prize money was approved by the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) and was organized by the Osun State Table Tennis Association. This event attracted players from various states, including Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Taraba, Nasarawa, Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Delta, Edo, Kwara, Kogi, Ekiti, Katsina, Niger, Zamfara, and the host states,.

Clubs such as Aruna Sports Club, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Police also appeared in the national ranking championship.
