History has repeated itself in Sweden as Nigeria’s Beyond Limits Football Academy successfully defended their Gothia Puma Trophy (B17) crown, defeating Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas 1-0 in a thrilling grand final at the Gamla Ullevi Stadium.
The decisive breakthrough came from none other than the tournament’s most lethal marksman, Memud Olamillekan Frankwhose first half goal ensured that the Ikenne academy remained on top of the world of youth football.
The victory caps an impressive and undefeated European campaign in which the Nigerian team outperformed top academies from around the world.
The path to the final: move forward to dream
Beyond Limits’ path to successive final appearances was not easy at all. In a highly anticipated semi-final on Friday, the defending champions had to face the legendary Ghana. Right to dream academy, a match widely considered the “true final” of the knockout phase.
