Senate hit by the results of the NPTF leadership

Abuja (basic reporter) The Senate Police Business Committee has expressed satisfaction for the results recorded so far by the new leadership of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), under the guidance of Mohammed Sheidu, executive secretary.

This was coming after the Committee examined the 2025 budget proposal of the NPTF, highlighting the key areas of consideration on Wednesday before its final approval by the Senate. .

However, the President of the Committee, Senator Abdulhamid Mallam-Madori Ahmed said that his committee was hit by the executive secretary of the NPTF, Mohammed Sheidu, for his leadership and effective results in a short period.

“We thoroughly examined the balance and the committee undertakes to recommend its transition from the Senate to allow the fund to start the implementation,” said Senator Ahmed. “Although we are generally satisfied, we have raised several issues and we are working with the Senate to help the agency recover funds linked due to ongoing disputes.”

In response, Sheidu expressed gratitude to the committee for his support and recognized the financial challenges that the fund has to face.

“As the president rightly said, we are currently involved in disputes, including a significant case in the United States, which we are facing with the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor General,” said Sheidu. “We appreciate the will of the Senate to intervene and help us recover funds that have been deposited due to these legal disputes”.

Sheidu also underlined the need for strategic partnerships to overcome financing deficiencies.

“Give our revenue constraints, we are exploring collaborations with agencies such as cyst and others to fulfill our mandate to improve the well -being, infrastructure and formation of the Nigerian police forces,” he added. “Federal allocations alone are no longer sufficient, so it is essential to diversify our partnerships.”
