Noa praises Jamb’s transparency, urges further actions on Utme errors

The National Orientation Agency (Noa) has applauded the joint committee for admissions and registration (Jamb) for its exceptional transparency and responsibility in facing the challenges that followed the unified tertiary registration examination of 2025 recently concluded (UTME). The agency described the open recognition of Jamb of its drops as a rare and commendable leadership act, which reflects a deep sense of institutional responsibility.

The general manager of the Noa, Mallam Lanre Issa-Syilu, praised Jamb’s Chancellor, Professor Is-HAQ Oloyede, for demonstrating the type of integrity and courage requested by public leadership. He observed that this act of frankness is not only a testimony of Professor Oloyede’s personal values, but also aligns with the principles of the National Values Charter (NVC), which incuses all public institutions to operate with the highest standards of transparency and responsibilities.

Mallam Onilu, however, underlined the need for Jamb to take a further step forward by starting corrective measures that directly deal with the concerns of candidates, parents and other interested parties affected by errors. “While the recognition of errors is the first step, redemption and return are other necessary measures to be adopted. Having decided to provide another opportunity to candidates as a way to redeem errors, it is essential that Jamb considers an adequate compensation to mitigate the stress and anxiety that these candidates may have suffered,” he said.

He underlined that Noa remains unshakable in its commitment to promote a culture of governance anchored in trust, integrity and mutual respect between citizens and institutions. “Jamb’s example should serve as a model for other public institutions. When institutions have their mistakes and act to correct them, they earn the respect and trust of people,” he said.

Reflecting on the codes of citizens under the card of national values, the DG reiterated that leadership is a collective responsibility. “Every citizen, in public or private service, has a duty to support the fundamental values of integrity, responsibility and transparency. These values are not optional: they are the pillars of a right and fair society.”

Mallam Onilu reiterated the determination of the agency to continue his defense for responsible leadership and citizenship based on value. He observed that the campaign of the Agency to root the ideals of the Charter of National Values in all levels of society will remain a central focus, since Nigeria strives towards a more ethical, inclusive and responsible governance culture.
